The big guy in the video was doing 56% of his max and couldn't finish it.

Ashley,
I was looking at my split jerk numbers Mar. the 28th. I had a 175# pr and was thinking of going with 115# for this one.
I think the problem will be doing that for 15 reps. I may have to drop down around 95#, log it and push for improvement next time???
This is a first for me but I would say the 50 to 65% mark is a good place to start. This is being dicussed on the main page comments as well and many people are comparing this to grace and going with 135#.
The "max rep" video shows that guys 1rm over 400# and he tried to C&J 224# and got to 10.
Thats a little over 50% for him. Of course you could start light and if you feel good up the weight on the next set.
Most people are mentioning the grip and forearms as being the weak link in this. Next time she comes around we'll have a little better idea.

My plan changed when I got started. I used 115# and got to 11 before I had to set it down. I got a re-grip andshook out my arms then did the last 4. Rather than drop weight I decided to stick w/ 115# and break the sets up. Went like this 11/4, 6/6, 6/3 took long breaks between sets but during broke just long enough to get re-grip or shake arms out. Forearms and grip was one fire at set #2. Next time i'll judge progress based on if I can perform set's as RX'd with 115#.

My split Jerk max was 215.
I started with 115 and had to do the same thing, Jayson. Just didn'tr have the endurance to hit 15 in one uninterupted set.

First time with the C & J
Did 10 @ 45# to work on form
Then 15, 12, 9 @ 60#
More next time.
Got a LOT of stares at the gym today. People think we're crazy.

Same as Spence 115 and had to break it up to finish. Minimal rest in between. Basically did a re-grip and started over
